Songbirds

Songbirds is a museum-quality fine art print reproduced from my original gouache painting, featuring Marigold on the porch of her forest cottage, singing and playing her mandolin as the birds gather around her.

Most evenings at dusk, the birds gather on Marigold’s porch to hear her play. She doesn’t sing to impress them, and she certainly isn’t looking for applause. She sings because she loves to, and the birds have become her favorite audience.

There is something special about making music when you aren’t trying to impress anyone. You can sing a little louder, play a little messier, and simply enjoy yourself.

I painted Songbirds as a celebration of that kind of freedom. the freedom to make something simply because it brings you joy, to be a little silly, and to let yourself be completely you without wondering how you’re being perceived.

I hope this piece brings some of that feeling into your home: a reminder that you don’t need a reason, an audience, or a perfect performance. Just be you, and the rest will follow.
